Matcha Cookie Recipe

While matcha is commonly enjoyed as a drink worldwide, matcha sweets are also very popular in Japan. Known for its unique bitterness and umami taste, matcha is a perfect ingredient for desserts. This cookie recipe introduces a simple way to make them, so even if you are a baking beginner, you can enjoy making your own! Why not bake yourself a special matcha treat for your tea time? Let’s get started!

Ingredients (30 pieces) :

  • 10g Tateru Matcha Powder
  • 200g cake/pastry flour
  • 60g butter
  • 70g sugar
  • 1 egg

Instructions:

① Whisk the butter until it reaches a creamy consistency. Then, add sugar and mix thoroughly until well combined. 

② Gradually add the egg to ①, mixing well. 

③ Mix Tateru Matcha and flour, then add them to ②. Mix thoroughly until fully incorporated. 

④ Place ③ in a ziplock plastic bag, roll it out to a thickness of 3mm using a rolling pin, and refrigerate for 1 hour. 

⑤ Cut into your preferred shapes and bake in a preheated oven at 170°C for 15 minutes.
